Characteristics of the Clarified Polypropylene ISBM Bottle:

PP INSTEAD OF PET, STYRENE, OR HDPE

PP has the best MVTR protection of any commercially available resin, protecting contents against moisture vapor penetration better than HDPE, PET, and PS. The MVTR protection offered by PP is 12 times better than PET and 2.5 times better than HDPE. It has also similar impact strength and top load strength of HDPE and PET, and doesn’t break or shatter when dropped like PS.

INJECTION STRETCH BLOW MOLDED

PP is a semicrystalline resin that responds well to biaxial orientation. This radial and axial movement of the resin increases crystallinity of the molecules, and the biaxial orientation improves the mechanical and physical properties of the bottles. PP bottles made with the ISBM process gain clarity that rivals PET, and our opaque white ISBM PP packers have a shining gloss not attainable with HDPE.

PP COSTS LESS THAN OTHER BOTTLE RESINS, AND IS LIGHTER

PP’s low density means we can produce more bottles per pound of resin, and it’s lower cost, gives our customers a significant savings advantage over bottles made with other resins. Plus, the ISBM process strengthens the resin and uses less plastic per bottle to achieve proper side wall strength and top load performance.

For MVTR protection, ISBM PP’s barrier is 12 times better than PET

*MVTR stands for Moistur e Vap or Transmission Rate in g-mil/100in. 2/24hr MVTR is a measure of the passage of water vapor through a barrier. A lower MVTR corresponds to better product protection against moisture.
